2011 M5 To Kick Out 550 HP

BMW is already working on a way to bring the power levels of the AMG up by the time the new M5 is revealed in 2011. In order to accomplish this the output needs to be more than current model’s – which is 501 horsepower. BMW till have to get rid of the V10 5.5 liters and give it a couple turbos and use direct-injection in order to bring it up to at least 550 horsepower.

BMW Refuses To Give M3 To Winner Of eBay Auction

The BMW location in Lincoln, Nebraska decided to boost their sales by putting one of their brand new M3’s up for auction on eBay. The listed price was $60,000 – which was pretty good for a BMW. Mr. Dooma350 was the lucky winner of the M3 and was able to get it for the listed price. The BMW dealership was hoping that the price would go up a considerable amount to help them make more of a profit – but it didn’t seem to work like that.

First Look At BMW’s New ‘M’ Dual Clutch Transmission

We were excited to see the release of BMW’s new M3 convertible – but we were even more excited to see the long awaited seven speed dual clutch gearbox that will be in every M3 vehicle that BMW makes.

The M DKG setup uses two clutches with 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th (plus reverse) on one shaft and 2nd, 4th and 6th on the other. Both clutches are oil-cooled and, like the systems offered by other manufacturers, the dual-clutch setup offers both quicker shifts and better fuel economy.

BMW is making sure that no one mistakes the new signature M3 for the standard 3 series coupe ever again. They are putting in a V8 engine, which they have never done before, and with that engine they need room for it. That is why they will be tweaking the body of the car.
